STUDY AND CAREERS SUPPORT
Study skills = confidence
Our Brighton Student Skills Hub will help you to build the skills you’ll need to study and learn effectively at university, and to achieve your full potential. The hub gives you access to resources such as personalised feedback on your written work, as well as workshops, seminars and tutorials to help with your academic writing. Whatever your level of learning so far, you’ll discover and develop skills that will enrich your time as a student and beyond.
Careers – from part-time jobs to long-term planning
We’ll help you to get as much as you can out of your time here, so that you can go on to find – or to create – work that excites and rewards you. You’ll need a combination of knowledge, skills, personal attributes and relevant experience, and you’ll develop all of this on your course. Meanwhile, our careers and employability team can work with you from the start on ways to practice, demonstrate and amplify what you have to offer, so that you graduate with your qualifications, confidence and a CV that stands out.
Our team are sector specialists who know what employers in specific industries are looking for. Alongside your course tutors, they can help you understand how your studies, activities and experiences translate into sought-after attributes. Based in our careers centres on each campus, they can help you to spot and work on gaps in your skills and think about what you want to do in the future – and they can also help you find part-time work while you’re studying.
Business start-ups – from side hustle to future career
No matter what subject you’re studying, our student enterprise team can help you take a skill, hobby or something you’re passionate about, and turn it into a cash-generating side hustle to run alongside your studies. And who knows what your venture might become?
More experiences, more skills, more connections
We can help you get involved in things that will boost your CV and your social life.
- Volunteering in the community – getting involved with community activities that you care about shows commitment and motivation.
- Working for the university – lots of students work while studying, and there are loads of ways you can be part of the campus community while being paid.
- Mentoring – self-development and support through mentoring others and being mentored.
