Center for World University Rankings 2025

No. 1 university in Europe for international students

We've been ranked the number one university in Europe by international students in the EduOpinions 2026 International Student Ranking.

The ranking is based on reviews from real international students who shared their experiences of studying and living in Brighton.

We are proud that at Brighton almost nine out of 10 of our graduates are working or studying just 15 months after finishing their course.

Our focus on employability is one of our strengths. We put technical knowledge and practical skills at the centre of our teaching so students don’t just learn theory, they put it into practice. It’s simple: hands-on learning equals confidence at work.

And because experience, counts 100% of our courses starting in September offer a placement year or an additional professional qualification. Every single course.

We are also accredited by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an accreditation achieved by less than 6% of business schools worldwide.

Scarlett, award-winning Sequential Design/Illustration MA graduate from China

It’s my first year participating in international competitions after graduating, and I’m so grateful for all the support from Brighton. Without a doubt, the university has been the starting point of my creative career.

Morenike, Law LLB(Hons) student from Nigeria

In my first year I did a six-week internship. It was something I got through the Careers team – I went along to one of the events, got to know about the organisation, then I applied and got through to the interview stage. The Careers team was really instrumental in helping me prepare for the interview.

MJ, Marketing (Branding and Communications) MSc graduate from the USA

I think as an international student, having UK work experience is paramount. I’ve learned far more than I could’ve imagined [on my placement year]. I’ve actually just signed an offer letter for full-time, permanent employment with them, which is very exciting!

Preena, Business Management BSc(Hons) graduate and Marketing MSc student from Kenya

The education I received at the University of Brighton has equipped me with valuable knowledge and skills in my field of study. The emphasis on critical thinking, research and practical application has prepared me for the challenges of the professional world.

Brighton is big enough to be exciting, but small enough to feel like home. A city with a beach on the edge of countryside – where there’s always something happening.

Brighton & Hove is a diverse and inclusive city, home to people from different backgrounds and cultures.

The city has multiple places of worship for many faiths and established ethnic communities, as well as a huge restaurant scene for international food where students can find comforting food that reminds them of home. Brighton has everything from traditional Middle Eastern mezze to authentic Indian cuisine and Chinese dim sum.

For students who prefer to cook their own meals, the city has a number of international shops where they can buy authentic spices, ingredients, halal meat and fresh produce that offer a taste of home. On-campus there are halal, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free food options.

Brighton has the highest proportion of start-ups and small/medium-sized businesses in the creative and technology industries of any UK city.

It is also a cultural powerhouse, with incredible festivals and events like the Brighton Festival and Fringe, Brighton Digital Festival, Pride and the Brighton Marathon.

It’s a special place to live and an even better place to study.

Ketan, Physical Education BA(Hons) graduate from India

The vibrant atmosphere and diverse community at the University of Brighton made it the perfect place for me to grow. Engaging with fellow students from various backgrounds has enriched my experience and helped me develop a broader perspective, both personally and academically.

Maja, Marketing (Branding and Communications) MSc graduate from Poland

Brighton is the be-all and end-all location to be a student. It is without a doubt the most inclusive and laid-back location, while there is always something happening. If you wrote a list of art, leisure, sport or social activities that you can think of, there is a good chance they would only be a short bus ride away (if not within walking distance).

Mario, Aerospace Engineering MEng graduate from Italy

There is something about Brighton, it is such a breath of fresh air. I find the people to be more inclusive and accepting, for example in fashion you see all sorts here. People can wear whatever they want, and I feel it boosted my confidence to dress however I wanted too. I think it is a great place to learn independence and self-discovery!

Joel, Architecture BA(Hons) graduate from Uganda

Brighton is filled with creativity. My favourite activity on the odd Friday out has to be going to the local pub where they hold open-mic nights or have a gig going on. I would advise anyone to immerse themselves in the Brighton music scene.

There is a range of help available to our students, depending on their needs. Every student has access to a student centre on campus, a dedicated team that provides support for international students, a personal academic tutor and a tutor they can speak to about anything that’s affecting their studies or wellbeing.

Our Skills Hub provides academic guidance and English language support for any students whose first language is not English.

The International Student Advice team are on hand to assist students throughout their time at Brighton.

On all of our campuses there is somewhere private that students can use for prayer, and our Faith and Spirituality team can help them connect with religious communities across the city.

Bhavik, Photography MA graduate from India

The best thing about studying at Brighton was the diversity and the communities that I found. All the staff at Brighton were so encouraging and it was a great place to learn. As an Indian student, I can confidently say that you will have the best time at Brighton!

Polyxeni, Pharmacy MPharm graduate from Greece

At Brighton, there are so many opportunities to build strong relationships with people from different backgrounds. As a student coming to Brighton from another country, I also learned to be independent and adapt to new and challenging environments, which has been definitely useful in my next steps after graduating.

Edzwan, Civil Engineering BEng(Hons) graduate from Malaysia

My time as an international student at the University of Brighton fundamentally impacted where I am today. My university days in Brighton gave me the opportunity to build my confidence.

Ally, International Business Management BSc(Hons) graduate from the USA

What drew me to study in Brighton was a mix of curiosity and a desire for a unique adventure. The University of Brighton offered a diverse range of courses, and I found one that perfectly aligned with my interests in international business. The vibrant student community, especially its welcoming attitude toward international students, also caught my attention.
