REAL STUDENT VIEWS

Brendan, art history and visual culture

The teachers here always seem so passionate and excited about their work and passing that knowledge on to us, which really enables me to feel the same when learning and writing my own work.

Carlton, sport coaching

The lecturers are genuinely supportive and push us to think like real coaches, not just students. Group work and practical sessions make learning fun and realistic. I’ve grown a lot through feedback, reflection and working with other passionate people.

Morenike, law

Studying law at Brighton has been an amazing experience. The lecturers are incredibly supportive, especially with assessments and coursework. The non-exam structure allows us to be assessed through presentations, written essays, reports and even media projects like podcasts, which makes learning more engaging.

Millie, marketing management

My course has been both challenging and inspiring. The lecturers are passionate and always supportive, offering real-world insights that connect theory to practice. I’ve really enjoyed the flexibility in assessments – from written reports about brands that interest us to creative digital projects.

Ella, fine art

On my course I have a decent amount of studio space, I am well supported by my tutors and technicians, and, most importantly, I am surrounded by like-minded creatives who have become my closest friends. The technicians on my course are also really kind and patient with us.

Teddy, illustration

I’ve had incredible support from all the illustration tutors – from technical help and thoughtful critiques to pastoral support. They went above and beyond to help us achieve our goals on the course and push us towards creative careers.

Aadhi, digital games development

My course encourages communication and collaboration with classmates to develop new ideas and work together on activities. One of the best parts is the flexibility to learn not just one core skill, but a range of skills I can use both in and out of university.

Freya, pharmacy

My Brighton experience has been terrific – the staff, students, facilities and resources are exceptional. The lecturers are passionate and inspiring, and the balanced mix of coursework, assessments and clinical exams, with plenty of time to prepare, really works well for me.

Cinar, architecture

Keeping up with lectures, attendance and project submissions while striving for success is challenging, but with support systems at every corner and Brighton’s warm, positive energy, those challenges become manageable and even truly enjoyable.

Playing to your strengths: inclusive learning and assessment

Our students have diverse talents and strengths, and our courses are designed with inclusivity in mind. Your course will be made up of modules that allow for independent in-depth study, as well as opportunities for project work, collaboration and active participation in research. Modules are reviewed regularly to make sure that all parts of your course are accessible and inclusive. So, whatever your learning background, you can make the transition to degree-level study, and have influence over how you learn and how you’re assessed.

Better ways to learn

Our students have a learning experience that’s more varied and adaptable than ever before. Your learning will be primarily in person and on campus where you’ll connect and collaborate with students and staff, but you’ll also have the advantage of some digital learning as we know our students value it. Being able to revisit materials at your own pace, the convenience of not always having to travel in to uni to talk to tutors, and more opportunities to develop digital and communication skills – we’ve built these benefits into your course in ways that enhance your face-to-face and hands-on experiences.

Be part of the solution through research on your course

Our university – students and staff together – has a huge part to play in creating solutions to big human issues, like the climate emergency, global health, economic crises and social and racial inequity. When you take your education to the next level with us, you join a community focused on positive change. All of our courses bring our research into the classroom, so you’ll benefit from – and contribute to – new knowledge and new solutions while you develop new skills.
