MOVING OR COMMUTING

You can take advantage of your guaranteed place in halls or join the 30%+ of our students who live at home and travel in to study and socialise – either way, you’ll feel at home on campus.

COMMUTING TO CAMPUS

Whether it's about staying close to friends or family, cost of living considerations, or because they simply love where they live and don't need to move to join us, commuting is a popular choice for our students – you'll be in good company! All our campuses are near train stations, and there are regular bus services to get you to and from university. Funding for travel and free parking can make commuting even easier.

CHOOSING YOUR HALLS

We have halls that are located on, or near to, our campuses and our collaborations with halls providers across the city give our students more choice and flexibility. On-site facilities, all-inclusive rents and ready-made communities can all make your move to student life straightforward, supported and sociable.

Art and media students are based at City and Moulsecoomb campuses. Your nearest halls are Phoenix Brewery Halls, Mithras Halls and Varley Park. Find out more below.

Dana, pharmacy

Living in halls was definitely one of the best choices I made at uni. I was able to meet people from other courses and backgrounds and get used to living alone away from home. There are residential advisers who provide support and help with any worries or concerns.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee you an offer of a place in halls if you:

  • make Brighton your firm choice of university
  • are starting your first year of full-time study
  • apply for university accommodation by the deadline we tell you about.

of students receive either their first or second preference in 2024/2025

I rented privately in my second and third year, living in the heart of the city. Sharing a home with similar people is a great opportunity to grow together, support one another and learn what it means to be independent.

HOMESTAY

With homestay you rent a room in the home of a family, couple or single person who has registered with the university. Homestay can be catered or self-catered, and provides a supportive home environment as you settle into university life.

OUR ACCOMMODATION TEAM

We know how important it is for new students to find the right home and our accommodation team is here to help. With years of experience and excellent local knowledge, they can advise you on all your options and guide you through the process – all year round.
