STOP 9: HUXLEY BUILDING

The Huxley Building is home to the School of Applied Sciences and houses subjects including biosciences, biomedical science, chemical sciences and pharmacy. Inside, students have access to specialist facilities that support handso-on learning and research, including advanced image analysis suite, molecular biology and genomics labs, and dedicated microbiology and cell culture spaces and a pharmacy simulated learning environment.

Pharmacy clinical simulation suite

Based on the 4th / 5th floor, our pharmacy clinical suite features patient simulators and a medicine dispensary so students can practice hands-on and develop patient-focused skills.

Specialist laboratories

On the 4/5th floor is our purpose-built labs with facilities including cell culture suites, RT‑PCR, electron and confocal microscopy.

Brighton Integrative Genomics (BIG) Unit

Huxley is also home to our state‑of‑the‑art sequencing hub with an Illumina NextSeq500 and specialist facilities for genome, transcriptome and methylome analysis, supporting research, teaching and industry collaboration.
