STOP 5: THE MEADS BUILDING

The Meads Building houses our state-of-the-art sport science labs which sport and exercise students use during their studies. The facilities are accredited by the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES) and include a biochemistry lab, biomechanics lab, kinanthropometry lab, neuromusclar lab, psychology lab, physiology lab, blood analysis lab and an immersive environment lab. There is also a large sports hall in The Meads Building which is used by students for lessons, leisure and competitive sports.

Immersive environment lab

Located on level 1 the lab houses our Igloo 210 screen which recreates scenarios across multiple sport and health disciplines.

Physiology lab

This lab on level 2 has bikes, treadmills and Douglas bags used by students for a range of physiology tests.

Environmental lab

On level 2 are two environmental labs which house the dual-purpose environmental chamber which can go from +55C down to -25C and replicate 5,000m of altitude.
