STOP 1: CHECKLAND BUILDING
This is the largest building on campus and contains our main lecture theatre. The building houses specialist facilities for education, teaching, podiatry and occupational therapy courses, but all students are likely to use the building for classes. The facilities include specialist classrooms and labs that replicate the school environment, an occupational therapy craft room and orthotics manufacturing. It also houses the Curriculum Centre on the fourth floor which has 25,000+ resources for student teachers including books, games and subject-specific equipment. There is a café, lots of spaces for group and individual study, and a Student Centre, where students can access a wide range of support, from financial advice to wellbeing services.
Social area
Checkand building has lots of areas for socialising and working including the atrium on level 3.
Checkland café
The café on level 3 serves a wide range of hot and cold food, and drinks.
Curriculum Centre
The centre is located on level 4 where you can explore its many resources for student teachers. There is also a social area.
Art classrooms
On level 1 you’ll find the art classrooms used by student teachers and occupational therapists.
Science labs
On level 2 you’ll find the primary and secondary science labs used by student teachers.
Wood work and D&T rooms
Located on level 1, you’ll find lots of specialist equipment in there including the orthotics manufacturing equipment used by student podiatrists.
