CITY CAMPUS
SELF-GUIDED TOUR
STOP 1: GRAND PARADE
Grand Parade is the largest building on campus and where most visual communication courses are based, such as: Fine Art, Illustration, Graphic Design, and Fashion. Due to its central location and large lecture theatre and gallery spaces, many events take place in this building, including local festivals and student exhibitions.
On the ground floor of the building, there is a café which serves a range of delicious hot and cold food and drink. There is a student services area, where students can access a wide range of support, from financial advice to wellbeing services.

On the mezzanine floor, there is a Students’ Union Art Shop, which sells a wide range of art supplies covering all courses taught here, as well as snacks and cold drinks. Throughout the building, there are workshops for each course and technical skills labs that any student can be trained to use, like bookbinding and 3D printing.
The quad is an open green space in the centre of Grand Parade, where students can relax between classes with friends. At the back of the quad is the Wild House, Europe’s first public building made almost entirely from material that has been thrown away. This completely functional space is used for teaching, and has a dye garden, where produce is used in the making of art supplies.
