Levelling the playing field

The start of the academic year, when our staff and students come together to help our new first year students move in, is something I most look forward to each year. This year I was proud to wear my Belong at Brighton shirt and personally welcome our new students to the university. I’m sure many of you remember that day clearly.

A sense of belonging is a huge part of why students decide to come to Brighton. We hugely value the diversity of our student body who come from all walks of life. We also know that the playing field isn’t the same for our students which is why your support is so critical and valuable to them.

We are grateful to our students for sharing their reflections and stories of how your support has encouraged and empowered them to achieve great things during their time with us.

What unites these students is not only their drive and determination but how your generosity has made their lives that little bit easier in helping them achieve this success.

We are really proud of them, and we hope you are too. We hope you enjoy hearing from them.

Thank you

Professor Andrew Lloyd, Interim Vice-Chancellor
