Academic essentials

UCAT (in year of application)

A level AAA (including Biology or Chemistry & one subject out of Biology, Chemistry, Maths or Physics)

IB 36 (including HL Biology or HL Chemistry & one HL subject out of Biology, Chemistry Maths or Physics)

Adjusted offers: AAB (including Biology or Chemistry & one subject out of Biology, Chemistry, Maths or Physics) / IB 35 (including HL Biology or HL Chemistry & one HL subject out of Biology, Chemistry Maths or Physics) for widening participation applicants who meet criteria

Eligible UK students with household income under £25,000 may receive:

  • £500 cash bursary in Years 1–4 (subject to annual confirmation)
  • Additional bursaries for care‑experienced or estranged students
  • Sports scholarships (both universities)

English and Maths

Minimum equivalent to GCSE grade 6 (grade 5 accepted for adjusted offers); IELTS 7.0 overall with 7.0 in each component if applicable (recent).

We also welcome:

Third A‑level in any subject (humanities/arts welcomed, including Psychology)

Graduates with science degrees (normally 2:1) and A‑levels incl. Bio & Chem

Access to Medicine (recognised courses, typically Distinction; see criteria)
